Bill Love visits the club to review the progress on the bunkers and determines the sand lines. Bill uses white towels to lay out the exact shape of the bunker edges. The towels allow Bill to view the lines from the fairway and make sure they are perfect before he paints them in. This is a slow process but it ensures proper visibility from all angles.

Architects Bill Love and Brian Kington use white towels to lay out sand line edges.

The towels give clear visibility from the tee and fairway.

Once the towels are perfect, Bill paints the sand line.

A little help from Mike Barillo and Don Chick.

Robert Baker also lends a hand.

Drayhills Construction's team begins to cut in the edges.

Now the bunker is really taking shape.

Looking good, what a difference a few hours can make.
Look close and you can see all the edges, sand and sod should be done by next week.

Installation of Burning Bush hedge along #1 tee. When the hedge row matures, we will keep it pruned around 6 feet which will reduce distractions from the cart staging area.

Sod is stripped along #1 blue and holes are dug for the shrubs.

Sod is stripped along #1 white.

Mulch installed, looks great.

Sod stripped for hedge row is used to repair in front of the scoreboard.

Bunker renovations are moving along. We have had a very wet and cold spring but things are looking up. Bill Love will be at the course tomorrow to inspect the work on #6 and #15. Once Bill approves the rough shape, drainage, bunker liner, sand and sod will be installed. We could have the first two holes completed by the end of next week.

#15 ready for Bill Love.  2 bunkers on the front left side, 1 bunker front right, 2 bunkers behind green and multiple grass depressions.  A narrower approach will make a tougher target.
View from the right side of #6 green.  There will be much more visibility of the sand with the new design.
Germination on #7 blue tee, we will remove the tarps next week.

Aerification of greens 3/15

Last week the greens were aerified and top-dressed.  This spring, we used a 1/2" solid tine and achieved a depth of around 8".  We followed with our ProCore 648 and pulled a 3/8" core.  Rain held us up on Wednesday but we were able to complete everything on Thursday.  I have included some photos for those who have never seen the process.

Elmer is pulling 3/8" cores on the small practice green.

Donald and Fabian clean up the plugs with our Core Harvester
Jose breaks up any remaining plugs with a drag mat.
Samuel blows away any remaining debris.
Hugo applies the top-dressing.

Lucger sweeps in the sand with a Cocoa mat.

Tree pruning has begun along the fence lines on #13 and #15.  Additional pruning will be done along the right side of #3 tee and in front of #9 tee.  Storm damaged trees are also scheduled for cleaning.
